There are several supermarkets close by which can be easily reached by car. Opencor are on the other side of the motorway accross from our apartment and is open 7 days a week.
Elviria: If you take the Elviria after Las Chapas you will find SOL - this is part of a supermarket chain in Spain. At this exit you will also find a few bars, restaurants, hairdressers, dentist, travel agent, internet shop, hardware shop, florest and some banks. There are good Chinese and Indian restaurants which do take aways.
La Canada Commercial Parc: For the best choice however I would recommend you go to La Canada Commercial Parc. I don't think I have seen anything like it in the UK. It is about a 10 minute drive. You take the exit after the exit for Marbella and you can't miss the shopping complex on the right-hand side. There are several shops and restaurants in the complex but the supermarket is something else. It has a large fresh cheese counter and meat counter. An extensive range of fresh fruit and veg and everything else you would expect to find. They stock a lot of local brands which you would see in the UK, which is great for fussy kids. In addition you will find lovely children's clothes which are much cheaper than Marbella and you won't see them at home. So have your lunch and stock your fridge up with lots of goodies and of course wine!
The town of Marbella is 12 km away or about a 10 minute drive by car. There are plenty of car parks all around the town. It has two very distinctive areas - the famous Orange Square in the middle of the town and the Marina. There are plenty of restaurants and it is well worth taking the time to have a coffee and a snack in Orange Square where you can watch the world go by! There are lots of little side streets off the square with plenty of restaurants and then of course you have the shops! If you want to purchase anything don't forget your credit card!
The Marina has a completely different feel. You can hire a horse and trap here if you want a relaxed look at the town. You pass some lovely fountains as you make your way down to the beach. The restaurants are a little cheaper here than in Orange Square. You can enjoy a stroll along the sea front looking at the various shops before dinner. There are also several play areas for the children on the beach.
Puerto Banus where the jet set go! is a little further away from Marbella (15km) but worth a visit if you like to look at expensive yachts. This exclusive, very trendy spot is good for shopping and eating out. The people watching is great and you never know whom you might see. The majority of the restaurants are situated along the Marina, where you will also find designer names such as Gucci, Channel, Armani and Versace. They is also a large 'El Corte Ingles' here, which is part of a well known shopping center chain in Spain. They stock anything from clothes, shoes, cosmetics, furniture and food. The prices are normally quite reasonable.
